A Sculptors Stone

Every boy longs for the day when he can grow his first beard and every beard has to start somewhere. You can’t start a beard until you are first clean shaven. You need a fresh start, you need a blank canvas to paint your picture upon. You need a stone in order to sculpt a masterpiece.

Steven Spielberg once said, “People have forgotten how to tell a story. Stories don’t have a middle or an end anymore. They usually have a beginning that never stops beginning.” My beard started in high school. I couldn’t actually grow one, but it never stopped me from trying. The longing for something more, the longing for something better is what drives us. I longed for a beard, I longed to have a story. Looking back though, that is where my story began.

Where did your story begin? When did you start painting your canvas? A sculptor starts with a stone. He gently starts chiseling at it, knocking off piece after piece, until that stone becomes a piece of art. Each piece that gets chipped away is a part of that story, but you never see the final product until all the stories are told.
